Bay UMC Chancel Choir performs Easter cantata on Palm Sunday

On April 10, Palm Sunday, Bay United Methodist Church Chancel Choir will perform an Easter Cantata as part of the 10 a.m. worship service. The cantata, “Love Divine,” tells the story of the Passion of Christ and was written and arranged by Joel Raney.

The choral piece weaves together the story of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, his prayers in the garden, his arrest and trial, the crucifixion, and his miraculous resurrection. Within the cantata, you will hear several familiar hymns, including “O Worship the King,” “What Wondrous Love Is This,” and “In the Garden.”

The BUMC Chancel Choir is a four- to five-part mixed choir that sings weekly at the church from September through June. The choir is fortunate to have the talents of several soloists, and their special performances, such as this one, includes an orchestra accompaniment.

The choir is directed by Ronald H. Muth, who has been the Director of Music at Bay United Methodist Church since 1977. His career as a high school choir director spanned 47 years, and he spent ten years at Rocky River UMC as a bass soloist.

Please join us on Palm Sunday to experience the uplifting musical story of the resurrection of Jesus. All are welcome to attend.
