BAYarts' April exhibitions take on both city and country

Jackson Koch

With the two solo shows at BAYarts this month, visitors can expect to see two drastically different points of view.

In "Poetic Landscapes," Susanne Dotson presents what she has seen over the past 30 years as she has driven down I-70 for her work as a multi-line manufacturer's representative. Sharing oil paintings with both real and imagined details, vibrant colors like cardinal red and warm olive gold are everywhere.

Trading in bold colors for bold shapes, the other exhibition at BAYarts this month is about cityscapes. In "Urban Elevation: Skyline to Street," photographer Jackson Koch explores the urban environment of "bold skylines to abstract architectural studies to gritty black-and-white street scenes." Especially unique is his method of printing his work on metal.

An opening reception for both exhibitions will be held at BAYarts on Friday, April 8, from 7-9 p.m. Free and open to the public. Visit bayarts.net for more information.
