Westlake Garden Club is blooming
Starting last month the Westlake Garden Club became the only garden club in the entire Westshore area to offer Saturday meetings.
Gardening is the most popular hobby in the country and the club’s goal is to be more accessible to gardeners who work. This has immediately sparked new interest.
After being shut down all last year due to covid, the club returned with a full slate of programs, outings and events. The March meeting on orchid care was presented to a full room at Westlake Porter Public Library.
Now we are turning our attention to a common problem in spring. Folks in this area are all too familiar with the heartbreak that comes from seeing that the local wildlife has destroyed their carefully planted yard and garden or eaten all the seed meant for the birds!
Master Gardener Holly McTernan will arm residents with successful strategies to keep unwanted wildlife at bay. She will talk at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, at Porter Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road. The program is free and open to guests. No registration required.
