Bay Mayoral Candidate: Marty Mace

Marty Mace

Hello, my name is Marty Mace, and I am running for mayor of Bay Village. I have spent 37 years as a public servant as a firefighter and paramedic.   I also served as an appointee to the Ohio EMS Board, appointed by Governor George Voinovich. I pledge the same dedication in my approach to the issues that affect our community as mayor.

Bay has been a great place to work, live, and raise a family. We pride ourselves on community involvement and civic awareness. However, the community spirit and high level of city services have slowly eroded. City ordinances have been increasingly passed by emergency measures, bypassing public debate; problems in our infrastructure, including electrical brownouts and residential basement flooding have evolved from nuisances into public safety issues. Vital city services have been cut, leaving gaping voids with no solution to deal with the aftermath.

Transparency and public discourse must go hand-in-hand when making such cuts. As mayor, I plan to bring back community access to city hall. Limiting the use of emergency measures must be a critical first step. We must address our aging infrastructure on a proactive level. We must be efficient in our solutions to financial challenges, including utilizing programs through the county.

As mayor of Bay Village, I will work with our citizens, business owners, city departments, and city council to address these challenges; I will diligently work for you, being accountable to you, and it will be my privilege to be your mayor.
