Kathryn Maver named to Westlake Porter Public Library board

The Westlake Porter Public Library board of trustees has appointed Kathryn “Kate” Maver to serve a term from 2020-2026.

A Westlake resident, Maver is the director of development for the Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, Cleveland. She previously served as the pastor of the Wells River/Newbury United Church of Christ in Vermont, the planned & major gifts officer at the Little City Foundation in Palatine, Illinois, and the communications and development director at the Horizons Hospice. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a master’s degree in divinity.

Maver brings plenty of library experience to the board, beginning with her first job as a library page and continuing with recent stints on the boards of trustees of both the Baldwin Public Library in Wells River, Vermont, and the Tenney Public Library in Newbury, Vermont. She also offers expertise in facilitating conversations in a variety of public settings and capital campaigns.

Maver sees the library as a valuable part of the Westlake community not only because of its traditional role of providing literacy and information skills, but also due to the more contemporary roles of gathering place, technology teaching, and provider of resources that individuals may not be able to afford on their own, such as Creativebug or the non-traditional collection. She seeks to ensure that Westlake Porter Public Library continues to fulfill these roles and find new ways to serve the community for years to come.
