Nov. 1 through Nov. 8 – Thank Our Veterans – Honor our veterans by creating thank-you cards to be delivered to area independent living facilities. Materials available at the Youth Services Desk.

Tuesday, Nov. 1 (7-8:30 p.m.) World at War Forum: Pershing and the AEF Win WWI – Andrew Mangels describes how General John Pershing led the American Expeditionary Force into battle and helped to defeat the Germans. Please register.

Wednesday, Nov. 2 (4-5 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Lisa Napoli, “Susan, Linda, Nina and Cokie” (Virtual) – Join us online for an enlightening conversation with acclaimed writer, journalist and broadcaster Lisa Napoli as she discussed her book about the founding mothers of NPR. Streamed live. Please register.

Wednesday, Nov. 2 (6:30-8:30 p.m.) Horror Film Club – Join us for another creepy classic from the Vault! New members are welcome, but children under 13 must be with an adult. Please register.

Wednesdays, Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 30 (7-7:30 p.m.) and Saturdays, Nov. 5 and 26 (10:30-11 a.m.) Family Storytime – Join us for rhymes, songs and play! For families with children ages 2-6. Siblings are welcome. Registration begins one week before each session.

Thursday, Nov. 3 (10-11:30 a.m.) Computer Basics & Introduction to Northstar – Learn how to turn on a computer, use a mouse, go online, and access Northstar Digital Literacy for self-paced online learning. Please register.

Thursday, Nov. 3 (1-7 p.m.) – American Red Cross Bloodmobile

Friday, Nov. 4 (10:30-11:15 a.m.) and Sunday, Nov. 13 (2-2:45 p.m.) Adapted Storytime – Join us for this storytime designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime. Content is geared toward ages 3-7. Registration begins one week before each session.

Friday, Nov. 4 (7-9 p.m.) Friends’ 50th Anniversary Birthday Bash – Join us for an evening celebrating the Friends’ 50th Anniversary with a birthday bash! There will be special events, music, treats, and more! Please register.

Saturday, Nov. 5 (1-3 p.m.) Health Fair – Join us to learn more about health! The fair will include health screenings, a program about decluttering, information from various health groups, and a prize drawing.

Saturday, Nov. 5 (1-2 p.m.) Declutter Your Mind and Space – Join Chris Lotenero and Peg Shumate as they show us how to organize, declutter, simplify, and discover what is truly important in life. Part of the Health Fair. Registration required.

Sunday, Nov. 6 (2–3:30 p.m.) Patch it, Don’t Trash It! – Bring a piece of clothing of any kind that needs repaired and learn basic sewing techniques to extend the wearability of your favorite clothes! Grades K-5. Please register.

Monday, Nov. 7 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Teen Craft Pick-Up – A take home craft kit for teens in grades 7-12. This month’s craft is a mason jar candle holder. Please register.

Monday, Nov. 7 (10-10:30 a.m.) Myrna Chelko Early Literacy Initiative Storytime – Members of WPPL’s Myrna Chelko Early Literacy Initiative are invited to join Ms. Jamie for a morning of silly stories, songs and rhymes! You must be eligible to join or have already joined the MCELI to attend. To register, visit westlakelibrary.beanstack.org.

Mondays, Nov. 7, 14 and 28 (3:30-5:30 p.m.) Teen Lounge – Need a place to hang after school? Video games, board games, snacks and more!

Monday, Nov. 7 (6-8:30 p.m.) HeartSaver CPR/AED – Get certified for adult, child, and infant CPR and AED. Class led by certified instructors from UH St. John Medical Center. Visit uhems.org/event-search to register. Email account required. Participants under the age of 14 must have a parent or legal guardian in class. Monday, Nov. 7 (7-8 p.m.) Consumer Education for Military Families – A representative from the Better Business Bureau Serving Greater Cleveland will discuss Consumer Education for military consumers, their families, and veterans to prevent them from falling victim to predatory businesses and scams. Please register.

Tuesday, Nov. 8 (4:30–5 p.m.) A Salute to Veterans – Join us for a Veterans Day story and create greeting cards paying tribute to local veterans in appreciation of their service. Grades K-2. Please register.

Tuesday, Nov. 8 (7-8:30 p.m.) Tuesday Evening Book Club (In Person AND Virtual) – Join the WPPL Tuesday Evening Book Club in person or on Zoom to discuss "The Forest of Vanishing Stars" by Kristen Harmel. The discussion will be held in person and on Zoom simultaneously. Please register. If you register for the Zoom option you will receive a Zoom invitation and instructions by email.

Wednesday, Nov. 9 (7-8 p.m.) Cookbook Discussion: Talk About Your Favorite Recipe! – Pick a cookbook from our library shelves, and bring a dish to share! This meeting will focus on comfort food! Please register.

Wednesday, Nov. 9 (7-8 p.m.) Author Visit with Eric Carlson Author of Muladona – Join us for a virtual author visit with author Eric Carlson, joining us live from Geneva, Switzerland! Carlson is an author of horror, weird, and other forms of speculative fiction.

Thursday, Nov. 10 (7-8 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Bonnie Garmus – Join us online for a dazzlingly entertaining chat with author Bonnie Garmus as she discusses her debut New York Times bestselling novel Lessons in Chemistry. Streamed live. Please register.

Thursday, Nov. 10 (3:30-4:30 p.m.) Roblox Arcade – We have some private servers set up for Tweens in grades 4-6 to hang out with their friends and enjoy some of the most popular games via Zoom. Join us in person on online. Registration begins Nov. 3.

Thursday, Nov. 10 (6-8:30 p.m.) First Aid & Stop the Bleed With University Hospitals – Join us for a program which combines the classes First Aid & Stop the Bleed. Check-in starts at 5:45 p.m. Class starts at 6 p.m. Class led by certified instructors from UH St. John Medical Center. Please register.

Thursday, Nov. 10 (6:30-7:30 p.m.) A Passion for Puppets Storytime – This storytime features puppets and a craft time. It is designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime experience. Ages 3-7. Registration begins Nov. 3.

Thursday, Nov. 10 (7-8 p.m.) Thursday Night Book Discussion – This month’s title is "Ghosts of Harvard" by Francesca Serritella. The group meets the second Thursday of odd months. Participants will need to obtain their own copies of the title. Please register.

Friday, Nov. 11 (2-3:30 p.m.) Veterans' Coffee and Chat Hour – Join us for a coffee and tea hour honoring our veterans. Participants are encouraged to bring a memento, such as a patch, photograph, or token of their time in service that invites a story to share with all. Please register.

Friday, Nov. 11 (4-4:45 p.m.) Fun Science Friday: Colorful Leaves – Join Mrs. K as we explore the wonders of our world. Fall leaves will change color before our eyes! Discoveries will be made through hands-on experiments, active participation and a simple take home project. Ages 4-6, up to Kindergarten. Registration begins Nov. 4.

Saturday, Nov. 12 (10-11:30 a.m.) Homemade Scented Bath Bombs and Sugar Scrubs – Learn how to make a scented bath bomb and sugar scrub using a few simple ingredients from your very own kitchen. Self-care will also be covered. These items will make excellent stocking stuffers! Registration begins Nov. 5.

Saturday, Nov. 12 (3-4 p.m.) Illustration Creation – Learn about a featured illustrator and then create a project inspired by their art. Grades 1-3. Registration begins Nov. 5.

Sunday, Nov. 13 (2-3 p.m.) Art Smarts – Explore some works of a well-known artist and then use what you’ve seen to create an art piece of your own! Grades 4-6. Registration begins Nov. 6.

Sunday, Nov. 13 (2-4 p.m.) World Kindness Day – A global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world. Join us as we recogonize World Kindness Day with a proclamation from Westlake Mayor Dennis Clough, kindness-themed crafts, giveaways, and a Kindland information session.

Monday, Nov. 14 (9 a.m-9 p.m.) Our Heritage Craft Kit Pick Up – Celebrate the diversity of our American heritage with these fun crafts! Registration begins Nov. 7.

Monday, Nov. 14 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Tween Craft Pick-Up – A take home craft kit for grades 4-6. Registration begins Nov. 7.

Monday, Nov. 14 (10-10:30 a.m.) Music Monday – Develop pre-reading skills with music, movement and rhythm through stories, songs and rhymes. Ages 2-6. Registration begins Nov. 7.

Monday, Nov. 14 (7-8:30 p.m.) Maker Monday: USB Flash Drive Uses – Learn about the useful things you can do with a USB drive! Please bring a blank USB flash drive. Please register.

Tuesday, Nov. 15 (4 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Kwame Christian – Join us online for an enlightening hour with bestselling author Kwame Christian as he chats about his new book, "How to Have Difficult Conversations About Race." Streamed live. Please register.

Tuesday, Nov. 15 (7-8:30 p.m.) History of the Buckland Museum of Witchcraft & Magick – Join Steve Intermill, Director of the Buckland Museum, as he discusses Cleveland’s own museum of witchcraft and all its weird, wonderful, and unique items. Please register.

Tuesday, Nov. 15 (7-8 p.m.) Young Adult Book Club – "The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. Those unable to attend in person can join us simultaneously via Zoom. Please register.

Wednesday, Nov. 16 (2-3 p.m.) Wednesday Afternoon Book Discussion – The Wednesday Book Group meets the third Wednesday of each month. A limited number of books are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. This month’s title is The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan. Please register.

Friday, Nov. 18 (4-5 p.m.) Brick Builders – Do you love Legos? Bring your ideas and imagination to Brick Builders! Bricks provided. No registration required, but room capacity is limited. First come, first served. Ages 5-12.

Saturday, Nov. 19 (10:30–11 a.m.) Library Giraffe Meet and Greet – Join us for a morning of stories and rhymes celebrating our library giraffes as we unveil the name of our baby giraffe! Ages 2-6 with a caregiver. Please register.

Saturday, Nov. 19 (3-4 p.m.) 3D Printing Orientation – In order to use the library's 3D printer, you'll need to take this orientation first. Learn library policies about using it, how to download a 3D-printable object, and how to prepare it for a great print. Please register.

Sunday, Nov. 20 (2-3 p.m.) Come Play With Me – An open playtime for children ages 2-5 with a caring adult. Siblings welcome! No registration required but room capacity is limited. First come, first served.

Monday, Nov. 21 (1-2:30 p.m.) True Crime Book Club – This club is a great way to discover some new titles and some classics of True Crime. Please register.

Tuesday, Nov. 22 (10–11:30 a.m.) Microsoft Excel & Introduction to Northstar – Learn the basics of Microsoft Excel, and how to access Northstar Digital Literacy for self-paced online learning. Please register.

Friday, Nov. 25 (4-4:30 p.m.) Read It, Make It @ the Library – Make a craft based on a story that is read aloud. Grades PreK-1, siblings are welcome. Registration begins Nov. 18.

Saturday, Nov. 26 (1-2 p.m.) Pokémon Fun! – Join Miss Rachel for Pokémon fun! This will be a time to view and trade cards, do a craft (if desired) and play a Pokémon Bingo game. Feel free to bring your cards! Ages 6-11. Registration begins Nov. 19.

Wednesday, Nov. 30 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Discovery Box (Sign-Up) – For Teens in grades 7-12. Register for WPPL's personalized subscription box service by November 23. Here's how it works: 1. Register; 2. Fill out a brief survey; 3. Based on your answers, we'll prepare a personalized Discovery Box that is catered to your specific taste; 4. Pick up your Discovery Box starting Dec. 7.

Wednesday, Nov. 30 (7-8 p.m.) Adult Creative Writing Group: Gratitude Edition – Join us for an hour of creative writing prompts to inspire you to start and keep writing. Creativity is more than putting pen to paper. It’s about breaking away and trying something new! This meeting will feature exercises and poems that focus on gratitude through story writing in honor of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Please register.
