Wednesday, June 7 (4-5 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Mike Rucker, Ph.D. – Join us for an author visit with Dr. Mike Rucker as he talks about his book "The Fun Habit," an inspiring and motivational guidebook that you will want to share with everyone in your life. Streamed live. Please register.
Wednesdays, June 7, 14 and 21 (4:30-6 p.m.) Bow Wow Books – Stop by Youth Services to sign up for a 10-minute reading time with a reading therapy dog. Sign up starts at 4 p.m. Dogs will stay for 10 minutes past the last registered reader or 1-1/2 hours, whichever comes first. Recommended for Grades K-4.
Wednesday, June 7 (6:30-8:30 p.m.) Horror Film Club – Join us for another creepy classic from the Vault! New members are welcome, but children under 13 must be with an adult. Please register.
Thursday, June 8 (2-4 p.m.) You and Me Earring Making – Learn the art of earring making by making two different styles of earrings. This class is for an adult with tween or teen. Please register.
Fridays, June 9 and 16 (1-3 p.m.) Movies @ Your Library – Enjoy a feature-length newly released DVD or favorite family classic. Contact Youth Services for specific titles.
Friday, June 9 (4:15-5 p.m.) Sensory Workshop – Let’s make ... connections, friends, cool stuff! In this workshop you’ll make something to take home with you! Ages 8-12. For children with disabilities and typical peers. Please register.
Saturdays, June 10 and 24 (10:30-11 a.m.) Wednesdays, June 14, 21 and 28 (7-7:30 p.m.) Family Storytime – Join us for rhymes, songs and play! For families with children ages 2-6 with a caregiver. Siblings are welcome.
Saturday, June 10 (1-3 p.m.) Bike Rodeo – Learn bicycle handling skills, get helmet & bicycle checks, and earn a certificate for demonstrating your skills in the bike rodeo! Parent/guardian is required to attend with their child. Westlake Police Department and Village Bicycle Cooperative will provide safety checks. Please register each child that is participating. Each participating child must bring a helmet and bike in good condition and working order. Younger siblings are welcome but will not be permitted to ride bikes in the rodeo. There will be a play-space available for younger siblings. Grades 1-6.
Monday, June 12 (11-11:45 a.m.) Ready, Set, Kindergarten! – Children ages 4 and 5 are invited to rotate through skill stations in preparation for making the leap into Kindergarten. Please register.
Monday, June 12 (1-1:45 p.m.) Children's Planting Workshop – Learn the basics of gardening and plant your own herb pot with the Herb Guild Garden Club! Grades K-4. This outdoor event will involve a hands-on gardening activity. Please dress accordingly. Rain location is the Porter Room. Please register.
Monday, June 12 (2-3 p.m.) Bring Your Own Book Club – For readers in grades 7-12. Bring your favorite Young Adult book in the LGBTQ+ genre to share with the group, get a preview of new YA books in the WPPL collection and enjoy some trivia questions (with prizes).
Monday, June 12 (7-8:30 p.m.) Maker Monday:Beginning Coding for Adults – Want to learn how to code? Find resources on how to start here! Please register.
Tuesday, June 13 (11 a.m.-noon) Long Term Care Ombudsman – Join us for an overview of this organization that advocates for people who use long-term care services. Please register.
Tuesdays, June 13 and 20 (2-2:30 p.m.) Reading Buddies – Partner with one of our teen reading buddies to practice your reading skills and share your favorite stories. Grades 1-3. Please register.
Tuesday, June 13 (7-8:30 p.m.) Tuesday Evening Book Club (In Person AND Virtual) – Join us to discuss "Persuasion" by Jane Austen. The discussion will be held in person and on Zoom simultaneously. Please register. If you register for the Zoom option you will receive a Zoom invitation and instructions by email.
Wednesdays, June 14, 21 and 28 (4-5 p.m.) Introduction to Sign Language – Learn the basics of communicating with the hearing impaired. This five-part class will cover the American Sign Language alphabet, fingerspelling, and some commonly used words. All ages are welcome but ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver (please register caregiver as a guest). Valerie Williams is the instructor. Please register.
Wednesday, June 14 (6-8:30 p.m.) HeartSaver CPR/AED – Get certified for adult, child, and infant CPR and AED. Class led by certified instructors from UH St. John Medical Center. Visit uhems.org/event-search to register. Email account required. Participants under the age of 14 must have a parent or legal guardian in class. Wednesday, June 14 (7-8 p.m.) Trivia and Pop Music of the 1970s – Dr. Joel Keller, “The Doc of Rock,” returns with another evening of classic music fun! Join us as we travel back in time to the glory of the 1970s music scene! Please register.
Tuesday, June 15 (10-11:30 a.m.) Internet and Email Basics with Introduction to Northstar – Learn the basics of the internet, using email, and how to access Northstar Digital Literacy for self-paced online learning. Registration begins June 8.
Thursday, June 15 (2-2:30 p.m.) Little Sprouts Storytime – Members of WPPL's Little Sprouts are invited to join Ms. Jamie for an afternoon of stories, songs, and rhymes! For ages 4 and under. Registration begins June 8.
Thursday, June 15 (2-3 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Jamie Beck, An American in Provence (Virtual) – Join us for a virtual author talk with award-winning photographer Jamie Beck. Streamed live. Please register.
Thursday, June 15 (2-3:30 p.m.) Teen Crafternoons – For teens in 7th-12th grades. Join us for some in-person crafting! The June 15 session is a special Pride Month edition.
Friday, June 16 (9:15-9:45 a.m.) Yoga with Ms. Jen! – Calm your body, mind, and spirit in this yoga class taught by a certified yoga instructor. Wear comfy clothes and bring your own mat or towel. Ages 2-6, siblings welcome. Registration begins June 9.
Friday, June 16 (4-4:45 p.m.) Fun Science Friday: Seashells – Seashells are home for small animals. We will learn what makes seashells special and unique. Discoveries will be made through hands-on experiments, active participation and a simple take-home project. Ages 4-6, up to Kindergarten. Registration begins June 9.
Saturday, June 17 (11-11:45 a.m.) Adapted Storytime – Join us for this storytime designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime. Content is geared toward ages 3-7. Registration begins one week before each session.
Saturday, June 17 (2-4 p.m.) Make It, Take It! – Stop by the Youth Services Department to complete a featured craft. Grades PreK-2. While supplies last.
Saturday, June 17 (3-4 p.m.) Illustration Creation – Learn about a featured illustrator and then create a project inspired by their art. Grades 1-3. Registration begins June 10.
Saturday, June 17 (9-11 p.m.) Movies Under the Stars – Enjoy a feature length newly released DVD or favorite family classic. Contact the library for the specific title. Movie will begin at dusk so feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Snacks are okay to bring. Building restrooms will be accessible. Caregivers must stay with their children. Rain venue is the Porter Room inside the library. All ages.
Sunday, June 18 (2-3 p.m.) Art Smarts – Explore some works of a well-known artist and then use what you've seen to create an art piece of your own. Grades 4-6. Registration begins June 11.
Monday, June 19 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Who's at the Zoo? Craft Kit Pick Up – Create some critter crafts featuring your favorite zoo animals. Kits will be available until June 25. Registration begins June 12.
Monday, June 19 (10-10:30 a.m.) Music Monday – Develop pre-reading skills with music, movement and rhythm through stories, songs and rhymes. Ages 2-6.
Monday, June 19 (7-7:45 p.m.) Magic Show – Come one, come all to this marvelous magic show sure to keep you laughing! Presented by Cleveland Magic and Balloons. Grades K-5, siblings welcome. Please register.
Tuesday, June 20 (10-11:30 a.m.) Android Smartphone & Tablet User Group – Do you own an iPhone or tablet? Bring it with your questions (or tips!) to this guided user group. Please register.
Tuesday, June 20 (11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) I Can Cook! – Learn basic cooking skills with simple recipes for kids with disabilities and their typical peers. If you have an allergy or dietary concern, please contact the Youth Desk at 440-250-5471. Ages 3-7. Registration begins June 13.

Thursday, June 22 (3-4 p.m.) Breakout: Internet Apocalypse! – A hacker is planning to delete the internet! Work together, solve the clues, and save the day! For grades 7-12. Please register.
Thursday, June 22 (5:30-6:30 p.m.) Open Heart: A Conversation with Dr. Akil Taher – Meet Dr. Akil Taher, the author of "Open Heart: The Transformational Journey of a Doctor who, After Bypass Surgery at 61, Ran Marathons and Climbed Mountains." Please register.

Saturday, June 24 (2-2:30 p.m.) Sidewalk Art! with Sniff the Rainbow Monster – Join Sniff the Rainbow Monster as we read a book about summer fun and make chalk art creations inspired by our favorite picture book characters at the Pavilion! Grades K-4. This program is weather permitting. Staff will make every effort to notify you in a timely manner if we cannot meet in person. If so, you will automatically be registered for the rain date on July 14 at 2 p.m. Please register.
Sunday, June 25 (2-3 p.m.) Come Play With Me – Open playtime for children ages 2-5 with a caring adult. Siblings welcome!
Monday, June 26 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Spice It Up! Take Home Kit: Za'atar – Do you enjoy cooking and trying new foods? Sign up for a kit that will contain a sample of the featured spice as well as a handout with background on the spice and suggested uses! Each kit will also contain a couple recipes! This kit will contain the spice Za'atar. Please provide an email address when registering.
Tuesday, June 27 (2-4 p.m.) Make and Take Jump Rope Fun – Make your own jump rope using recycled grocery bags and learn some chants to try it out! Ages 8-12. Please register.
Wednesday, June 28 (7-8 p.m.) Adult Creative Writing Group: Pride Edition – Join us for an hour of creative writing prompts to inspire you to start and keep writing. Creativity is more than putting pen to paper. It’s about breaking away and trying something new! This session will focus on poetry and creations by LGBTQ+ writers and poets. Please register.
