The lake's best-kept secret
If you have not been to Huntington Beach lately, you have been missing out on a lot. Our family started a tradition a couple of years ago to ride our bikes as a family to Huntington for a dinner picnic.
Huntington Beach includes an impressive sunset most of the time and ice cream. The entire experience feels like a vacation, and it's a great escape from our overloaded schedules.
This beach has all kinds of places to picnic and relax. The firepit provides warmth for visits and conversations, and the benches behind The Noshery are a great place to see the sunset with ice cream if the stairs are not an option for you. Huntington Beach also has delightful swings that have been donated by local families, and provide a great place to rest and ponder.
Recently, I have noticed more people from the area putting their toes in the sand in the evening. Some walk with beverages, some take family photos, and some just read and look up from time to time to see the changes in the sky as night creeps in.
Some go to look at the water and clear their heads. The water has healing powers, in case you didn't know. Regardless of what takes you to our gem, it’s wonderful to see people taking in the beauty of the beach.
Summer in our community is remarkable. We still cherish and appreciate good neighbors, bike rides, lemonade stands, and friendly merchants. Some might consider a picnic at a beach to be old-school and old-fashioned, but we cherish it. At times is seems like most of the world is moving so fast and not taking time to slow down and relax at the beach. Some don’t make the time, and some don’t have the beach.
A drive on Lake Road through the area comes with a prevalent reminder across your nose. The smell of charcoal lighter fluid says people are gathering and enjoying our exceptional beach. I think we are very blessed to have Huntington in our backyard. It is summertime in Bay Village. Take it in, and make memories!
