Meet the Candidates, Bay Village School Board: James Goodman

James Goodman

My family and I have called Bay Village home for seven years. We have two boys: a sixth-grader attending Bay Middle School and a preschooler. We love this amazing community and have a vested interest for years to come.

Professionally, I work in the IT Contracts, Finance and Vendor Management Office at Case Western Reserve University managing a multi-million dollar portfolio of vendor agreements. Much of my time is spent negotiating contracts on behalf of the university, with a focus on information security and financial stewardship. My experience here is directly applicable as learning becomes increasingly reliant on technology.

I believe in a high quality public education for all and its value to society as a whole. To this end, I serve on the Board of Trustees for the Bay Village Education Foundation, which works to support, promote and fund programs created by our students and educators. These programs encompass all areas of the curriculum and enhance enthusiasm for learning. Examples include One School One Book, Thirst Project, and more.

I was happy to serve on the Citizens for Bay Village committee, helping to pass our recent levy. I kept coming back to a common theme while working on that campaign. The success of our district is on us, and because of us. We have this great thing going here because of our collective community engagement, parental involvement and the support network behind our students and educators. That's something we can all be proud of.

You may also find me on the baseball field, coaching and developing a wonderful group of young men to be leaders on and off the field. It’s a joy to spend my time with such an enthusiastic, intelligent and uplifting cast of characters.

I hope to earn your vote Nov. 7!
