Local team wins state baseball championship

The 10U AMP Force Ohio baseball team won the state baseball championship. The 10U AMP Force Ohio baseball team won the 2014 Elite Division Nations State Baseball Championship the weekend of June 14-15 in Columbus. The team went undefeated in seven games, and outscored its opponents 67-10 in the tournament, including a 12-4 semifinal win over the mighty Ohio Elite and a 14-0 championship game victory over Vikings Elite.

This is the second consecutive Nations State Baseball Championship by this group of boys, comprised largely of players from the west side of Cleveland. The roster includes Jake Depaul, Luke Roggenburk and Michael Van Etten (Avon Lake), Micah Murtha (Bay Village), Tyler Ganley (Brecksville), Andrew Gormley (Medina), AJ Fletcher and Joey Pfaff (Rocky River), Macklin Miller and Jake Paul (Westlake), and Tommy Harrison (West Park).

The team is sponsored by AMP Electrical/Leff Electric and the Force Baseball Academy, and trains at the Force complex in Westlake.
