The second annual Howl at the Moon Dog Walk on June 28 was a huge success. This event hosted by the Westlake Recreation Center collected supplies and monetary donations benefitting local animal shelters. This year the recipients were the Westlake Animal Shelter, Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter and City Dogs Cleveland. Many local vendors attended the event donating their time and gift baskets for the raffle. And the best part of the evening, the dogs brought their families out for a night of fun and frolicking.

Joining in the fun this year were several local vendors who serve our furry friends and their families. Each vendor donated a gift basket that was raffled off with toys and delicious treats. The dogs and their families loved playing on the agility course. For pets and people on the go, a local pet services company and mobile groomer shared information on services to pamper our furry friends while saving time for busy families. Great tips for keeping our pets safe and healthy during the warm summer months were provided by a Westlake animal hospital.

We appreciate all the vendors who supported the dogs who are waiting for a home. For a complete list of vendors who helped make Howl At The Moon 2018 a huge success check out the Westlake Recreation Department Facebook page.

City Dogs Cleveland and the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter brought special guests who were waiting for a loving family to welcome them home. The Westlake Police Department took time out of their busy schedule to share the amazing work the K-9 unit does every day.

We want to say a big “thank you” to all who donated their time, money, and/or items to the dogs and puppies of the Westlake Animal Shelter, City Dogs Cleveland and the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter. Two cars were packed full of supplies and treats and $400 was donated the Westlake Animal Shelter.

Based on the looks of the pups' faces at the event, we can say this year’s Howl At The Moon was a big success!
